When the UK leaves, our nearest neighbours will be the French. And guess what? They want to get to know us better. Last week, a delegation arrived over from Vincennes, outside Paris, to start a twinning process with Blackrock.

They want to have closer cultural and business ties with an English speaking town. Blackrock, on the outskirts of Dublin shares many similarities with Vincennes, on the oiutskirts of Paris. Both have high older populations. They however, have officially included their older population in the planning process by having a 'Senior' council. They also have a 'Youth' council and sometimes they get the two to work together on different projects with wonderful results
